LOIS IRENE BAKER

 

Lois Irene Baker was born January 27, 1922 in Herrick, SD to Ferd C and Orvilla Bitterman. She moved with her family to Lodi in 1931 where she graduated from high school in 1940. She worked at Purity Store (then Stan’s Market) in Lodi and married Elmo Clyde Allen in 1955; the couple had 1 son; Bruce S. Allen in 1957. She later married Bob Baker in 1975. Lois also worked for the San Joaquin County Tax Collector for many years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of United Congregational Church in Lodi, served as past President of American Legion Auxillary Post #22 in 1953, was active in the Lodi Garden Club, loved working on the Grape Murals during the Lodi Grape Festivals. Lois is survived by her son; Bruce Allen, grandchildren; Justin, Jennifer, and Jaime, sisters; Margaret Quaschnick, Marilyn Burton, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Ferd and Orvilla Bitterman, her sister; Alice Lorain Shalaty, and her husband Bob Baker.

 

Family and Friends are invited to attend graveside funeral services on Friday, June 15th, 11:00 a.m. at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi. Donahue Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
